The History
of Leesburg
Leesburg is
also an old town full of history and romance. Leesburg, once named
"Georgetown: honoring King George II, was established in
1758 from land originally held by Lord Fairfax, then renamed for
the influential Lee family of Virginia.
The town was
formed at the crossroads of two important colonial roads now Route
7 and 15, and is the seat of government for beautiful Loudoun
County.
Leesburg was
once a staging ground for the British during the French and Indian
War, and the Colonials during the Revolutionary War. During the
war of 1812, the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence
and other vital documents were carried to a safe haven here. President
James Monroe resided nearby at Oak Hill, where he wrote the Monroe
Doctrine in 1823.
Restaurants
Realizing
that not every one wants to cook while away, there are many restaurants
within miles of the Comfort Suites. OK Oriental Kitchen, Del Rio
and Red Hot and Blue are all within walking distance of the hotel.

says the Washingtonian magazine. If you don't feel like going
